A blast from the past this Sunday

Sunday, July 3, we are honored to have Rev. Riley Short return to St. James United Methodist Church as our guest preacher!

Riley served as the interim pastor at St. James during the first six months of 2008, right before I arrived. Though he was here only six months, the positive impact he made on our church has lasted far beyond his short time as our interim pastor. His ability to lead, preach, and pastor with a heart of wisdom and compassion made him much loved and appreciated by everyone at St. James. God was clearly working through Bishop Whitaker when he appointed Riley to St. James on an interim basis. Riley was the right man at the right time for that short season of our church’s history.

Because of our fond memories of Riley and his ability to speak to all ages, we are cancelling our older children’s ministries and inviting all ages to the sanctuary for one of our three worship services (9:00, 11:00, or 12:30). We will still offer infant and toddler nurseries for your youngest ones, but we want the rest of your family to come worship together on July 3 as Riley proclaims God’s Word and we celebrate Holy Communion together.
